Love their extra virgin olive oil. Robust but gentle at the same time with a touch of bitterness and peppery. Hugh Hamilton Wines is my favourite place to buy extra virgin olive oil. It sounds a bit weird to go to a winery to buy olive oil, but they certainly have great olive oil. They also have nice wine too, but my main purpose of visiting this winery time by time is oil. :) My choice from their wine range is Grenache (1837 Bloodline Trio). I could feel berry and plum with a hint of leather and tea aroma, but most of all, I love the colour of the Grenache. The Chardonnay and Cabernet Shiraz were also awesome. Another reason to visit this winery is the breathtaking view. Once you enter the slightly elevated cellor door, you can have a 360 degree view from the vale to hills and Fleurieu peninsula. Autumn would be the best season to visit. If you have a chance to visit this winery, although they do not offer olive oil tasting anymore, believe me, must must must buy the olive oil.
휴 해밀턴 와인스는 애들레이든 남부 맥라렌 베일 지역에 위치한 와이너리입니다. 꽤 깊은 역사를 자랑하는 이 와이너리의 마스코트는 검은 양입니다. 셀러도어 입구에 있는 올리브나무 밭에는 이 검은 양이 실제로 돌아다닙니다. 이 곳에 방문할 만한 또 다른 이유는 뛰어난 경관입니다. 살짝 높게 위치한 셀러 도어 내부에 들어서면 맥라렌 베일 전경부터 저 멀리 애들레이드 힐즈와 플루리우 반도까지 한 눈에 내려다 보입니다.
제가 이곳을 방문하는 이유 중 하나는 올리브 오일입니다. 와이너리에 오일을 사러 방문한다는 것이 좀 아이러니 하지만 그만큼 이 곳의 올리브 오일은 품질이 좋습니다. 갓 나온 뉴 시즌 엑스트라 버진 올리브 오일은 그 거친 듯 젠틀한 질감과 약간의 후추 향이 기분 좋은 쓴맛과 어우러져 샐러드나 빵을 찍어먹는 용도로 아주 좋습니다.
와인 중에서는 특히 그레나쉬가 마음에 듭니다. 깊은 베리향과 자두향에 약간의 가죽 그리고 홍차향까지 복잡 미묘한 향에 적절한 타닌이 포함된 깔끔한 목넘김이 좋은 와인인데 특히 색이 아주 예쁜 와인이기도 합니다. 샤도네도 괜찮았고, 까버네 쉬라즈도 묵직하니 좋습니다. 혹시 이 와이너리를 방문하실 기회가 된다면 꼭 올리브 오일을 사보시기를 추천합니다.
